Unit 9 Reflections

In my Unit 3 overall well-being rating was physical well-being at a 7 ½, my spiritual well-being as an 8, and my psychological well-being a 7. I feel slightly improved on these ratings, but not incredibly. This is mostly because I was doing what I could to maintain and improve my health and wellness prior to this class. I would love to have the personal time to focus on myself to improve these numbers as much as possible; however right now the time that I have to devote to integral health is short of what I’d like. I have been able to maintain my physical wellness throughout my pregnancy, and spend a little more time reflecting and meditating, which has been beneficial. I have also made attempts at organizing and arranging my space to allow my psychological stress to decrease. In time I will be able to dedicate more time to my journey towards integral health, and improve my overall health and wellness with the practices recommended in this course.

This course has opened many opportunities and new thought processes for integral health improvement. I have been motivated to learn more about each aspect of integral health based on mind, body, and spirit connections. Personal time to focus on these improvements has been my biggest obstacle. Finding that time will be my next commitment; hopefully that happens before this baby comes! Implementing the practices presented in this course into daily life and the lives of others will encourage the journey towards greater health.

  1. Like you, I felt like I had some improvement in these areas, but also like you it is a challenge to make the necessary time to accomplish everything we want to do to improve our integral health. Part of my issue is money to follow up on needed doctors appointments and the ability to take off the time for the appointments.

I really also want to have the time to do more exercise. I was reading about how much time should be spent on exercise and how many steps should be aimed at for a day. It is much more than I am doing now. I hope that I can get my husband to join in my efforts soon. It would benefit both of us.

I think if the children did not need so much of my attention lately that we would also find it easier to do the things needed for our health and well being.

I am glad though that this course has helped me with the exercises that can reduce stress and anxieties. My brother noticed that with everything going on that I was not as stressed out as he thought I would be. The relaxation and subtle mind have been a big help, but equally important has been the loving kindness exercise which I have managed to partially use on the fly.

I hope that when you have your baby soon that you can simplify your life some and find ways to make a little time for yourself. Good luck in your integral health journey.

  2. It is important to take whatever steps you can toward integral health whether they are small or large. Whatever you are able to do will make a difference in the long run. This class is just ten weeks out of our entire lives, so there is much progress to make beyond this class. Plus, I am sure you will learn other techniques that work for you. I am so busy with my four kids that I don't know which way is up some days, so I know it can be difficult. Just do what you can, and you will eventually achieve whatever it is that you want to achieve. Good luck in the future!

    Sincerely,
    Amy L. Davis
